Young Onset Dementia Service

There is a clear and growing need for specialist support for people affected by young onset dementia, and we are proud to be responding to this gap in services within our community. Our dementia day care service now offers a dedicated day for people living with young onset dementia (under 65 years).

What is Young Onset Dementia?

Young onset dementia refers to dementia diagnosed in people under the age of 65. It can be particularly complex, as many people are at a different stage of life compared to older adults living with dementia. They may:

  • Have dependent children or family responsibilities
  • Be in employment or managing a career
  • Have a mortgage and ongoing financial commitments
  • Be physically active, independent, and socially engaged
  • Face emotional, social, and practical challenges following diagnosis

Living with dementia is complex, and receiving a diagnosis at a younger age can bring additional challenges for both individuals and their families. Our dedicated day has been carefully designed to provide age-appropriate, meaningful, and supportive care.
